Grapefruit Shrub Shandy

A shandy is a bubbly beer cocktail combining a blond lager and sweetened citrus juice. This local version combines Elk Creek’s Winkleblink Ale with Grapefruit Shrub.

6 oz. Elk Creek Winkleblink Ale (or other American wheat ale)
2 oz. fresh grapefruit juice
1 oz. Tait Farm Grapefruit Shrub
Quartered slice of grapefruit for garnish

Mix all ingredients in a chilled pilsner glass. Garnish with a quartered grapefruit slice.

This recipe can be adapted to include your own favorite flavor of Shrub in place of Grapefruit Shrub, and omitting the grapefruit juice completely, or substituting it with lemon juice, lime juice, or orange juice.
