Crumble Bars

These delicious bars are easy to make and a perfect treat for many different occasions. Depending on the time of the year, the fruit spread center can change with the seasons.

INGREDIENTS:

2 C. unbleached all-purpose flour
2/3 C. sugar
1/4 + tsp. salt
2/3 tsp. baking powder
1/4 + tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. allspice
1 1/3 sticks unsalted butter – chilled and cut into pieces
1 egg
1 jar Tait Farm Fruit Spread

Preheat oven to 375. Butter an 8” x 8” baking pan.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and spices.

Cut the chilled butter into the flour mixture until crumbly and then mix in the beaten egg. Pat half the crumb mixture into the bottom of pan, spread your favorite jar of fruit spread over the crumb base, and sprinkle the remaining crumbs over the fruit spread layer.

Bake for 30-35 min until it is lightly browned. Cool completely before cutting.
